Unfortunately, its not clear who were their ancestors. During
Xi Zhou Dynasty, the brother of Zhou Wen Wang, Ji Zhong was awarded the Guo kingdom.
Guo was a very weak kingdom and was close to being eliminated.
Zhou Ping Wang (770-719 B.C.)
wanted to award the Guo kingdom to Zheng Wu for his achievements. This resulted in the
criticism of varies dukes led by the Chu Kingdom, who threatened to attack Zhou.
Zhou Ping Wang was scared and awarded elsewhere to Zheng Wu Gong, and found the descendents
of Ji Zhong and restored the kingdom for them. Since the last name "Guo" rhymes with the
kingdom "Guo", descendents began to bear the last name Guo.
