What is "typical" Chinese tea?

I'm trying to find out what kind of tea is typically served in Chinese restaurants? I bought some green tea and brewed it but it didn't taste like what I usually am served at my favorite local Chinese restaurants. Do you know if it's usually black tea, or oolong, or what???
