Hi
I have 2 questions.
1. My surname is 'zhen' or 'chin' or 'yan' in cantonese (13 strokes). I understand it is a rare surname and I cannot seem to find its origins anywhere. Can you help?
2. Is it true that Chinese surnames were granted / bestowed by the Emperor upon villages or districts a long time ago? If so under which dynasty did this occur and where can I get references?
TQ ............ anthony
