The boiled egg sounds wrong. I have been ordering this dish for 50 years. I load it up with soy sauce and mustard. Great stuff.
Its a traditional Cantonese soup. You must be able to find a Chinese restaurant that can give you the recipe. Even without MSG.
You seldom see this on menus anymore, even in NYC. But we always ask and most places make it special for us.
