Please Visit Our Sponsor Gift Shop The Bible, Christmas Trees and Easter Christmas trees have become a symbol or icon of Christmas. Some trace the origin of Christmas trees to a tree worshiping practice of a few thousand years ago. Although we may never know the true origin of Christmas trees, Christianity is intimately related to two trees, the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life. The Bible teaches us that Adam, the father of mankind broke God's rule by eating from the tree of knowledge. By acting on his own will instead of God's will, Adam sinned and was separated from God (spiritual death). Because of this, the Bible says that we all are sinners (Romans 5:12), and the punishment for sin is death. The good news is that Christ (the Son of God) bore our sins and died in our place (Romans 5:18-19). He was hung on a tree (1 Peter 2:24) for our transgressions. This tree (or the cross) is the Tree of Life. Adam's sin through the Tree of Knowledge has brought separation between mankind and God, and Christ's obedience through the Tree of Life has brought unification between mankind and God. All we have to do is to believe and accept Christ as our savior. Since it was sin that brought the fall of man, it will take repentance from sin to be right with God. Thus to believe is also to confess and repent from our sins. The story of Christianity doesn't stop here. Christ who died on the cross was resurrected on the third day (John 20:1-9), and this is why Christians celebrate Easter. Not only are Christians not condemned, but we have the hope for eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:18, 19). Praise the Lord!
