Adam (8th Century) Adam was a Nestorian monk who came to China from Persia, during the 8th century (Tang Dynasty). Some think that he might be a Syrian who lived in Persia. Adam was known to the Chinese as the 'Persian Monk'. He was a Father, a Bishop and an elder. In the second year of Tang Jian Zhong's reign (781 A.D.), the Nestorian Monument was established.
